  • Bomb City Silhouette Club - the new air rifle club

Yesterday I received approval from the Amarillo Rifle and Pistol Club to start air rifle silhouette competition. We will shoot approved NRA 1/10 scale matches and Club matches with 1/5 scale targets. A schedule will be announced soon and will be available on the ARPC web page https://www.amarillorpc.com/

Bomb City Silhouette anticipates holding one big match a year as well. The match will likely be dubbed the “GLOBAL air rifle championship”, things are bigger in Texas.

Hope your air rifle matches were a success. We havent had any clubs running air rifle silhouette since the carolina airgun club shut down in the 90's. That is until Greg Chandler brought air rifle matches to Asheville a few years ago. I forgot how much fun it is to shoot this variant. Greg ran it as a warmup match before the two SB matches. Its still run the same way today, Its a great setup.

It is a fun. Being away from air rifle competition since the 80’s (1980’s not 1880’s) I was shocked at the accuracy of modern air rifles, especially at longer distances. I was also surprised at the satisfying sound of hitting the little animals. I expected very little sound of a HIT when you connect with an animal but it may be one of the loudest hit feedbacks in Silhouette. Great fun!
